ROME diaries

When in Rome…

Excursion: Florence June 26, 2010

Florence—Wonderful Italian town that was the birthplace of the Renaissance. We toured both the Accademia and the Uffizi Gallery and saw masterpieces such as Michelangelo’s David and The Birth of Venus by Botticelli. In my opinion, this was definitely the best shopping I’ve encountered in Italy thus far! I got a leather jacket from the leather market there. We took a cooking class where we made a three course Italian meal from scratch—and then we ate it! I LOVED Florence.

Tuscany (San Gimignano)—A medieval Tuscan town about an hour outside of Florence. We shopped around and happened upon a medieval parade… lucky us! Then we ventured even further into the countryside for a wine tasting. We sampled eight different wines with a full-course meal. Great experience!
